As I sit here and type this I’m not yet 30. I’m only 29. The clock is ticking loudly though, which means the “dirty thirty” is coming fast and furious. It’s funny, because it doesn’t seem so long ago that I pledged to myself to get drunk often and live it up during my last year in my twenties. I guess I always thought once you turn thirty it’s probably a little frowned upon to get drunk often and act like an idiot. But you know, my husband is going on 32 and he seems to get away with it just fine. On second thought, I guess I do frown at him often.
The point of this blog has absolutely nothing to do with getting drunk though. Well, I mean sometimes it might come up in a blog if it’s a pertinent detail to a story, but the point of this blog is to embrace this new chapter in my life – with humor. I might not always be funny. Sometimes there might be a moral to my stories. But usually I want to make you laugh.
I plan to blog about everyday funny truths, ironies and irritations, but also about life milestones like turning 30, my 65 mile bike marathon that I’m doing in April, the decision to have little kiddies when the time is right – to work or not to work after that – etc. I feel like 2010 is going to be a big year for me. And I want to blog about it.
I hope you come back often and join in on the conversation. This will only be fun if you’re here too. I want to hear your stories. I might need your advice. I don’t pride myself on how many Facebook friends I have or how many followers I have on Twitter, but I do care how many blog friends I have. So don’t make me feel bad. Let’s be friends here (sign up for Google Friend Connect!).
Oh but don’t forget to friend me on Facebook and follow me on Twitter. I mean, I guess I kinda care about that too.
Alright, let’s get started…
That is a great story and love that little pooch!!! Look forward to reading your stories – especially when you turn 30.

I’m turning 30 in 4 weeks and have yet to ponder how I should mark this important milestone. I’m definately excited to follow your blog!!!
So excited for this blog! Whoooo hoooo
Just wanted to say Courtney…..I can barely remember my 30’s let alone remember what I did yesterday, I’m so looking forward to your blogs..maybe I can relive my younger years through you!
HA! Sounds good Mira! I’m going to make it a point to not be boring! Glad you’re along for the ride! 😉
I thought I’d party it up the last year of my twenties, but I actually found myself noticing 30-somethings at the bar on a Thursday night all dressed up like they were going to the club on Saturday night and it grossed me out. I decided then that I needed to wind it down and I pledged that when I turned 30 I’d never go out during the week….well unless I went to dinner and had drinks and then people decided to move the party to a bar…ok I’m 31 and that self imposed weekday ban didn’t last long. However, although I have cut back, being 30-something is pretty cool and I could probably provide some good material for your blogsite from my own interestingly semi-sad life…ha!! I’m planning a big 2010 as well. Good luck!!
hi,
found your blog after searching for a 30something blog. i’ve read a few posts and decided to stay and read more.
remember my 30. birthday. i stood (naked) in the bathroom, tried to tame my curly hair, suddenly my mother entered the bathroom with a huge bouquet in her hands and handed it over to me. she smiled all over her face and behind her, my husband jumped past her – with a photocam in his hand – and took a quick picture of my naked me, with this huge bouquet in my hand.
trust me, in this moment, I would have strangled him … 🙂

Hi Luise! I would’ve strangled your husband too!! On a scale from 1 to 10, how awkward was it to be in a bathroom neked with your husband shoving a polariod in your boobs plus flowers all while your mom stood there watching?! Just curious. 😉
